P&G Recalls 32 Haircare Products Due To Cancer-Causing Chemical Concerns

Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo is one of the 32 P&G recalled haircare products due to cancer-casing chemical concerns

In a bombshell announcement, Procter & Gamble, on November 23, has recalled 32 haircare products due to concerns of contamination with a cancer-causing chemical, Benzene. The affected products were all manufactured in China and sold in North America. This news is sure to send shockwaves through the beauty industry, as P&G is one of the biggest names in haircare. Here's everything you need to know about the recall.

What Is The Issue?

According to the environmental studies done by the EPA, exposure to Benzene can cause leukemia, bone marrow cancer, and blood disorders. These conditions are extremely threatening and often fatal. People can be exposed to this element through inhalation of contaminated air or skin contact with polluted water or soil.

In succession to this report, The Procter & Gamble Company running its internal mechanisms assessed that some of its products primarily  aerosol dry conditioner spray products and aerosol dry shampoo spray also contain some levels of Benzene which were regarded as “ unexpected levels” by the company itself. The company further explained that the presence of Benzene was not as a primary ingredient but as an ingredient for the propellant of the spray cans to work.

No Side Effects Reported: Recalling a preemptive move in Larger Public Interest

The Procter & Gamble Company also assessed that, based on the levels detected in our testing, daily exposure to benzene through use of these products is not expected to cause adverse health consequences.

Also, there were no reported cases regarding side effects linking to the recalled products by the P&G Company.
